Gold Mini Doorknob Button

This is a very rare and unusual gold-plated button. It is a mini-replica of the round "newspaper" doorknobs from The Plaza Hotel, New York. These were a VERY rare find at their recent massive tag sale.
TWO ARE AVAILABLE IN THIS AUCTION. YOU CAN BUY EITHER ONE OR BOTH--IT IS YOUR CHOICE!! The button is five-eighths of an inch wide and is solid metal. The button doesn't look like it was ever put into service and is in mint condition. There is no wear at all to the gold! (See photo - photo is actual button being sold.) I believe this must have been used on one of the hotel uniforms, but all the uniforms at the sale had much simpler buttons. (That is if they had any at all.) I'm lucky enough to have two of these buttons. As a set they could be made into wonderful earrings or cufflinks! Check out the photos - the detail is spectacular! The door knob is not included...and the last photo is of the doorknob alone! These buttons truly are elegant keepsakes from a by-gone era! US $150.00 + shipping ð |

Two gold-plated buttons from The Plaza Hotel, New York. Both buttons have the famous "double P" logo on them. These buttons were a rare find at the recent liquidations sale. (Most of the uniforms were sold without buttons or with more generic buttons that didn't have any logos or other "Plaza" markings.) The buttons are between 7/8 inch and one inch in diameter. They are in excellent shape and there is no visible wear to the gold. (See photo - photo is of actual buttons being sold.) The back of the buttons are marked with "WATERBURY CO'S INC CONN." The buttons are fastened together with a gold clip, not unlike a paper clip. They clip can be opened and the buttons separated and removed. These buttons could be made into wonderful earrings or cufflinks! . These buttons truly are truly elegant keepsakes from a by-gone era! US $30.00 + shipping ð

A new votive candle holder from The Plaza Hotel, New York purchased at its recent huge closing sale. The photos don't do it justice! It is absolutely beautiful, depicting one of the Shinn Murals from the Oak Room and Bar on the inside of the glass using a reverse painting technique. It has an ornamental closure. It would make a wonderful gift! The Plaza Hotel has closed its doors and this candle holder is a wonderful and rare collectible. Enclosed in the box is a descriptive folded card bearing The Plaza Hotel Logo on the front and back One side of the card has information on the American painter Everett Shinn the painter of the famous mural s located in the Oak Bar. On the other side is information on the painting technique used to create this masterpiece! US $150.00 + shipping ð |
